Ferguson has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel – International Sourcing. This role will provide legal advice and guidance on supplier contract issues primarily to the international sourcing team of Ferguson Global.

Location:

This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid out of Ferguson's corporate offices in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal analysis and support for various commercial agreements with international suppliers, including structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with standard terms to achieve the optimal combination of service, cost, quality, and risk mitigation.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of formal policies, processes and procedures to govern a supplier contract throughout its lifecycle, including management of commercial contract signings, and guidance to sourcing and relationship management personnel through legal administrative process. Maintain and ensure proper level of maintenance of signed commercial contracts and related approvals.

  • Draft local policies and procedures, conducting training sessions, and monitoring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with the application of supplier risk management guidelines and governance associated with purchasing products and services including Ferguson’s Supplier Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Maintain signed supplier contracts and related approvals using contract management system and create regular reporting of key metrics.

  • Stay abreast of applicable legal developments, legislation, and regulations that impact foreign supplier activities, and perform industry research on related legal matters.

  • Identify issues and provide advice on regulatory and other compliance considerations as they may impact international supplier agreements.

  • Provide outstanding customer service.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from a law school fully accredited by the American Bar Association and admitted to practice and in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.

  • A minimum of four (4) years’ total legal experience, including significant, relevant experience with a law firm or private corporation as legal counsel leading the negotiation of commercial contracts for the purchase of products and services outside of the United States.

  • Experience with international sourcing matters, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and international trade laws and regulations.

  • Understanding of sourcing best practices and supply chain knowledge.

  • Knowledgeable in the global legal and compliance requirements Mainland China, Taiwan, or SEA countries.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.

  • Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize.

  • Proven business judgment, including the ability to anticipate and analyze impact and consequences of decisions and recommendations.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and leading contract management systems (Ironclad preferred).

Pay Range:

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$11,400.30 - $18,700.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
