VP of Operations
FabFitFun is looking for a VP of Operations to manage the sourcing of premium products for our seasonal subscription box and add-ons program. The VP of Operations will build a process, platform, and team to guarantee quality, cost, terms, speed, delivery, sustainability, and social responsibility of every item that is delivered to our members. The VP of Operations will have final responsibility for insights and assessment of the global markets, current and potential supplier, sourcing strategies, negotiations, and purchasing.
What you’ll do:
- Lead. Work with the executive team to set a clear vision, mission, strategy, and operating plan. Lead and inspire a diverse workforce of analytical / technical / operations resources. Build a strong operational (sourcing) culture that is business-minded, highly efficient, and fun.
- Improve internal processes. Optimize the sourcing operations. Find ways to automate to create time and labor reductions. Define and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize confusion and improve quality. Develop dashboards to monitor and report critical KPIs to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Roadmap / Plan. Present a roadmap for our sourcing plan ensuring (and improving) quality, cost, speed to market, and diversification of current vendor mix within the first 100 days.
- Negotiate. Participate (and in many case lead) the analysis and negotiation with respect to sourcing.
- Audit. Conduct a full audit of our existing supply chain, including thorough review of current vendor/factory capabilities, cost structure, and risk profile considering all of the critical factors listed above.
- Supplier Strategy. Develop supplier strategies by category of spend (eg: considering where to buy, capacity projections, the number of suppliers per product type, penetration by supplier, how to minimize risk, and how to leverage our purchasing power).
- Contingency. Establish and manage contingency plans to react to crises and maintain business operations.
- Onboard. Onboard new suppliers, and negotiate RFPs, SLAs, pricing, terms, etc.
- Build Relationships. Build and strengthen supplier relationships and ensure priority is given to our work.
- Report. Keep the executive team fully informed on all aspects of our sourcing agenda and goals. This should be done via a dashboard and will clearly call out (and sort by) all key metrics and timelines.
- Budget. Collaborate on a regular schedule with Finance on strategic cost savings targets, budgets and any critical plans or products.
- Globalization. Work to expand and optimize our global reach. Interpret international trade rules to understand best approach as it relates to tax, delivery times, costs, and customs challenges. Study tradeoffs of setting up international versus domestic distribution centers.
What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years of progressive global sourcing experience with a recognizable and successful company.
- Experience sourcing products like cosmetics, ceramic/glass, accessories, clothing, etc.
- Able to travel to (and continuously work in) international markets.
- Comfort with business intelligence reporting platforms (e.g. ERP, OMS, WMS, MS Excel) to analyze production, labor & financial data.
- A skilled negotiator with experience creating and enforcing contracts across multinational companies.
- Strong communication, problem solving, project management, and crisis management skills; Bilingual, preferred but not required.
- Excited to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, high-energy, and team-oriented environment.
- Strong knowledge of subscription-based and/or e-commerce companies such as Ipsy, Birchbox, Dollar Shave Club, Bonobos, Everlane, BlueApron, Jet.com, Thrive Market, Casper, Warby Parker, Honest Co, etc.
- Experience developing dashboards and key metrics to track the business and inform strategy.
- Experience recruiting and leading high performance teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations Management, or related discipline preferred.
- Prior experience working with start-up company highly preferred.
