About the Opportunity:
ReachLocal has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Engineering in our growing Software business. The mission of our Software business is to grow and extend our SaaS, Subscription and Reporting products and services that allow SMBs to manage their online marketing and grow their business.
This hands-on position will combine your expertise in open source development in ad tech and SaaS applications along with your ability to effectively lead distributed teams.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Software and working cross-functionally with stakeholders, you will play a critical role in developing global applications that directly impact our clients and company results.

About Your Responsibilities:
- Manage to high quality releases in an Agile environment
- Partner with the business on technical strategy, roadmaps, and ongoing estimates and resource planning
- Work with senior team to develop effective architectures and technical designs that create solid foundations for global products and services
- Manage teams of 20-30 staff in remote offices
- Ability to inspire, hire, and work with distributed teams
- Manage outsourced developers as needed to meet engineering and product needs
- Track and analyze application metrics
- Foster and support a culture of both innovation and excellence within our engineering team
About You:
- 12+ years of relevant experience in software development with a strong background in open source technologies
- Team leadership skills
- Ability to create respect and engagement across engineering teams
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE or other related discipline
- Experience with Rails, Java and/or other MVC web application frameworks
- Experience in Ad Tech and/or or SaaS applications
- Clear communication skills within and across teams
