 About the Opportunity:

 The Software Quality Engineer level is responsible for the testing of any of ReachLocal's core software products.  This individual will be a self-starter able to work independently or with a team to create test plans and scripts, perform testing and document the results. In this role the candidate will work closely with the development team to become familiar with all software systems being tested, help to improve SDLC processes and participate in process improvement. The candidate must be passionate about testing and contributing to software quality. We are currently seeking an engineer to work with our lead management technologies.

About Your Responsiblites:

  • Identify test requirements, generate test plans based on those requirements and execute test cases to ensure quality of software for production rollouts.
  • Test systems for functionality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications by performing testing in an environment based on the following technologies:
    • Java, JavaScript
    • Ruby/Rails
    • REST services
    • Nginx/Unicorn
    • CSS
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts
  • Report and track software defects/bugs
  • Work in partnership with developers and Product Management as part of a team and interact with other departments as needed
  • Debugging/isolating problems and issues and driving them to resolution.
  • Work multiple projects concurrently
  • Complete work within tight deadlines

About You:  

  • Excellent software testing skills
    • Gathering test requirements
    • Write and maintain test plans
    • Execute test cases
    • Document results
    • Track issues and bugs
  • Minimum 4 years experience testing and support of web-based applications
  • Strong knowledge of Selenium, Capybara or similar automation test suite
  • Experience testing RESTful Web-Services and using scripting/automation
  • Familiarity with source code control such as Git
  • Proficient using UNIX/Linux: setting permissions, editing files
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced agile scrum SDLC environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
