Acorns is is actively seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven Sr. Software Engineer. This position will reside in the Engineering group, which serves as the central development team for the company. The Data team is responsible for delivering a world class Analytics capabilities to serve millions of up-and-coming Acorns customers by streamlining and optimizing data processes on user behavior and complex financial data. In this role you will be a vital component to the success of our Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science teams. This is a full-time, direct hire position, working regular hours, located in Irvine, CA.

This position will report to the Director of Data Engineering.

Job Description:

• Build and migrate complex ETL pipelines between DBs and work on big data technologies
• Optimize performance of business-critical queries and identify and resolve ETL issues
• Identify and resolve data quality issues across DBs
• Extract and Integrate data from various heterogeneous data sources
• Design, implement and support a platform that can provide ad-hoc access to large datasets
• Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting

Job Requirements:

• BA/BS from top-tier university
• Mentor junior engineers
• 3+ years of Java/Scala/Python experience
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in an internet facing solution
• Object oriented fundamentals (OOA, OOP, OOD)
• Architect, design, and code new features and deliver Analytics capabilities on a complex financial and user behavior data
• Advanced understanding of SQL and database/data warehouse design concepts
• Lead setting standards and best practices for a growing engineering organization
• Experience with Test Driven Development
• Understand advanced algorithms and data structures
• Experience building API services
• Experience with AWS, Hadoop, Spark and Kafka
• Strong experience in building high-performance, reliable and scalable services
• Assist data scientist to integrate machine learning algorithms into a production environment
• Assist Analytics to produce business critical metrics such as OKR and KPI
• Experience in Agile Methodology
