The Pod Engineering Division is responsible for the design and development of the HyperPod, the Hyperloop transportation systems. These include the overall vehicle structure, levitation and linear motor integration, thermal management, on-board power, vehicle dynamics, structural dynamics, lifing, suspension system, braking system, and ancillary mechanical systems as well as the structural elements the vehicle. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.

Responsibilities

As senior structural lifing engineer for vehicle design team you will work on developing a world class system in terms of safety, performance, weight and efficiency for Hyperloop Pods and Transporters. We are looking for candidates passionate for developing next generation products in transportation and skilled in providing efficient solutions while working under tight deadlines. As part of the structural lifing team, you will work closely with peers in the pod team to develop lifing models, modal analysis, fatigue, structural optimization, test and validation designs among other responsibilities associated with this role.

Requirements

• Multiple positions available
• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related fields (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following related fields
• Fatigue lifing and analysis
• Vibration and modal analysis
• Structural design and optimization
• Buckling and non-linear structural analysis
• Knowledge of airframe and / or automotive chassis design and analysis
• Demonstrated Ability in mechanical system design and optimization
• FEA and machine design
• Excellent analytical engineering skills and knowledge of mechanical vibrations and dynamics

• Proficient with FEA and software packages like Ansys
• Proficient with Matlab
• Hands-on laboratory setup of experiments
• Familiarity with multi-disciplinary optimization methods and software packages like HEEDS is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
