We're seeking an experienced and motivated PHP developer to lead our engineering department. We're still a small, scrappy team, and someone with right level of talent and ambition will quickly grow into the role of CTO, owning the platform architecture and making hiring decisions as we scale.

Responsibilities include:

• Establishing a technological vision for Seed&Spark and leading all aspects of its development.
• Maintaining, expanding, and monitoring our application code and infrastructure.
• Interfacing with all departments to determine technology requirements for new initiatives.
• Delivering reliable estimates for technology projects, and supervising development efforts to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Recruiting, hiring, and mentoring technical staff members to expand the team as needed.
• Sourcing and evaluating outside vendors to assist with in-house development efforts.

• Expert-level knowledge of PHP, including experience working with a modern PHP framework such as Laravel or Symfony (we use Laravel).
• Experience using PHPUnit or a similar testing framework, including mocking and writing testable code.
• Experience designing, profiling, and scaling MySQL databases.
• Familarity with the Amazon Web Services ecosystem.
• Experience working with third-party APIs, including payment processors (we use Stripe).
• Proven track record of success and desire to take on a leadership position.
