The Electromagnetic Systems division is responsible for the design and development of the Hyperloop Propulsion Motor, Levitation, and Guidance Systems. These systems are all electromechanical in nature and are designed by a highly cross-functional team of exceptional engineers in the areas of Electromagnetics, Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, Materials Science, Testing, Controls and Embedded Systems, and Electrical System Modeling. We are seeking candidates with broad skillsets and various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.

Responsibilities

Software Engineers will have the opportunity to design, develop, document, test, and debug software written in various computer languages. You must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, interface with other groups within the project, work well within a dynamic environment, and have well developed problem-solving skills. You will determine and develop technical solutions to complex problems independently.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, MS degree is a plus
  • Experience with C/C++, hard real time embedded system software development for safety-critical applications
  • Experience with UML, Object-Oriented software design/development methods
  • Development using Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience in Agile software development and rapid prototyping environment
  • Experience with vehicle command and control, telemetry processing, navigation and propulsion is a plus
  • Experience with Real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks
  • Strong troubleshooting/diagnostic skills
  • Proficiency with basic tools (scopes, DVMs, network analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience with VME, PCI, CAN, EtherCAT, LIN bus based systems
  • Experience with device driver development
  • BSP and platform integration hands-on knowledge
  • Experience with COTS Chassis integration and assembly including SBC, DSP, A/D, D/A, DIO, Reflective memory, etc.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, National Instruments TestStand, PXI instrumentation
  • Experience with environmental, reliability, and safety requirements in public transportation is a plus
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
