Role summary:
DataScience is seeking a data-driven individual with a passion for uncovering insights in raw data sets through meticulous analysis, exploration, visualization, and statistical techniques. At DataScience, we bring together the brightest data engineers and data scientists to help our customers extract the information they need from their data. We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Insights team. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of academic-grade analysis on a wide variety of customer data sets.
Job requirements:
- Perform hypothesis-driven analysis in a deadline environment
- Conduct frequent explorations of new data sets
- Develop clear visualizations to convey complex ideas in straightforward plots
- Perform feature engineering
- Assist with model building and validation on stats, machine learning, and time series models
- Work directly with data scientists and business analysts to produce insights for customers
Required experience:
- Two or more years of experience and the ability to explore messy data sets and extract insights
- Intermediate SQL ability
- Experience with hypothesis testing, distributions, regression, and Bayesian approaches
- Some exposure to machine learning
- Experience in Python (preferred) or R
- Familiarity with Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, sk-learn, NLTK, Requests, and Beautiful Soup
- Basic ability to write in LaTeX
- Bachelor’s or master’s in statistics, operations research, econometrics, computer science, or a similar field
