The Manufacturing Division is responsible to create and manage internal and external manufacturing capabilities. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join the team at our Los Angeles facility.

The Manufacturing Buyer ensures that the items and services to build and maintain our R&D products are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered according to agreed terms and conditions.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Interfaces with managers to plan and prioritize purchasing activities.
  • Consolidates the purchasing goals from a matrix team of engineers.
  • Contributes to expansion of the supplier base, particularly machine and fabrication shops.
  • Reviews planned orders and creates requisitions for purchased items.
  • Transmits and prioritizes approved purchase orders and supporting documents to supplier.
  • Tracks orders and confirms system lead times, delivery dates, and costs.
  • Manages risks to schedule and quality.
  • Prepares shortage reports, and provides visibility of potential interruptions to internal customers.
  • Reviews, updates, and maintains purchase orders until they are closed.
  • Ensures orders adhere to internal procedures and supplier agreements; reports nonconformance.
  • Wears multiple hats at times including receiving and inventory duties.
  • Performs duties efficiently in an R&D start-up environment on an evolving ERP system.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing of industrial equipment, automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Experience in sourcing from machine shops, process vendors and industrial suppliers.
  • Good knowledge of engineering manufacturing drawings.
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar role.
