As our Billing Specialist at ChowNow, you will play a key role in the Accounting department ensuring that our financial data is accurate, timely, and consistent with the best practice financial procedures.
Help us keep pace with our fast-growing list of customers and expanding product catalogue! You’ll help turn sales into cash to keep the company’s engine revving. Specifically, you’ll process new subscriptions, amend existing subscriptions, and create new products within our billing platform. You’ll work with our AR Specialist on aging receivables. You’ll interface with our client services departments to field questions from our customers. Perhaps most importantly you’ll be vigilant about improving current processes both within the department and with other departments.
How you’ll stand out as a candidate:
We’re looking for someone who is highly-motivated and relentless in helping the accounting team meet its objectives. You can thrive in a fast paced environment where you will update client information, track and manage inventory items, process new client subscriptions, review and reconcile A/R reports, as well as track and record invoices. You have knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding accounting, finances, and taxation.
Ideally, you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and experience with our billing platform Zuora.

Within one month, you'll:- Complete our ChowNow onboarding (Ramp Camp)
- Learn the ins and outs of ChowNow and our products
- Shadow each department for an in-depth look at how each team plays its part
- Complete training with our IT Team and one of our Accounting Team Leads to learn how to access and use all internal tools, including Google Apps, Slack, Dropbox, Salesforce, ChowNow Admin
- Learn the basic customized processes in Zuora including processing new subscriptions for both recurring and one-time products
- Familiarize yourself with the approval process for add-on subscriptions in Salesforce and the consequent actions to take in Zuora
Within three months, you'll:- Become familiar with the intricacies of our customized processes in Zuora; amending and terminating existing subscriptions, redistributing recognized revenue per deferred revenue waterfalls, setting up new products
- Learn to identify and record failed payments per our merchant processor and reflect in Zuora
- Provide a variety of revenue reports out of Zuora
- Assist the Senior Billing Specialist in the monthly close process by reconciling variances in revenue and cash reports provided by our Bookkeeper/Controller
Within six months, you'll:- Own several billing processes that may include Failed Payment reporting, Canadian Subscription reporting, and Refund issuance
- Be proactive in identifying billing issues or problematic accounts
- Keep current on updates to Zuora features as identified in periodic Zuora announcements by attending Webinars and reading blog updates
