Whisper confirms new $36M funding round and adds new personalization features

Whisper, the anonymous social sharing app has confirmed a new round of funding and is updating its app with new personalization features to make it even easier to get lost in other people’s secrets.

The app lets people anonymously submit secrets by laying text over an image. In many ways it’s similar to PostSecret. Whisper seems to be especially popular with young people as a place to complain about relationship troubles and various anxiety disorders.

With the new update, users will be shown secrets related to one’s they submit. The app has also added a new search function and highlights categories of secrets, both of which will expand the ways in which users can discover Whispers.

The new $36 million round included participation from Thrive Capital, Shasta Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Tencent. Thhis bring's Whisper's funding total to $60 million.
