Anyone else turned off by the get-rich-quick app culture in the startup scene?

Or perhaps it's just me.  Maybe I'm being naive but why is there such a homogenized effort to make the same nichey smartphone app from so many startups?  I have a vague sense that the tech industry was once more versatile.
