, LA's on-demand massage app, announced a $35 million dollar funding round today led by past investor The Riverside Company.

This is the third round of funding for Soothe, which launched in 2013. The company raised a $10.6 million Series A after its $1.7 million seed round, which allowed the company to expand nationwide to 22 cities and acquire competitor Unwind Me.

Soothe CEO Merlin Kaufman said the funding will be used to continue the app's expansion to 20 additional cities before year's end.

"We'll be in a total of 40 to 50 markets by the end of 2016," said Kaufman. "This will be used to increase our marketing and customer acquisition spend. In addition to that, we'll be making key hires and investing in our technology platform."

The 40-person startup will be expanding their team over the next couple years as they take on the difficult task of a rapid national expansion.

"It's a challenge we're very familiar with and have been successful with in the past," Kaufman said. "In 2015, we added 12 new markets alone and didn't sacrifice the quality or experience in those markets."
