5 LA startups to help you find the perfect home

Moving to or around LA is an enormous undertaking. Finding the right place, the right neighborhood, and even the right roommate is tough in a market with so many options. We put together five local companies to help ease the pain of the search:

Rent an apartment: RadPad

Launched in 2013, RadPad has been the go-to source for Millennials looking to rent with more listings than competitors like Craigslist. The site and app allow you to seamlessly find the perfect spot and pay rent with a credit or debit card. They recently released a graphic showing how much techies are paying to live close to LA and San Francisco Unicorns.

Buy a home: Open Listings

The process of finding a home can be muddled by real estate agents hounding you in order to get their cut of the sale. Why not avoid them all together? Open Listings aims to save their user's money by refunding part of the property's commission back to the home buyer. The company takes a $5,000 flat fee, therefore, with a typical commission landing around 2.5 percent, the purchase of a million dollar home could net a buyer $20,000.

Find a roommate: YoRoomie

Los Angeles is a city of transplants. If you're in need of a safe way to find a compatible roommate, look no further than YoRoomie. Set your preferences for a desired location and price, connect with potential matches, and then chat within the app. They may not become your new best friend, but at least they'll get their rent in on time.

Find the right spot: Teleport

Want to avoid sitting on the 10 or the 101 for hours every day? Of course you do. Teleport helps startup employees find the most suitable areas to live near their workplace. After entering in your company and your desired neighborhood, Teleport presents you with an interactive map to show you rent prices, commuting time, and total money saved.

Find peace and quiet: HowLoud

Don't get blindsided by late night bar noise and airplane traffic upon moving in to your new spot. HowLoud and Factual teamed up to create a data-driven map of noise levels throughout the city. The map leverages different factors like vehicle and airport noise, local commercial noise, and local businesses like bars or auto shops.
