Heal, the Santa Monica-based on-demand healthcare service, announced $5 million in seed funding today.

The seed round investors included Slow Ventures, March Capital, Pritzker Capital, as well as numerous angel investors.

For $99, Heal sends doctors to your home or office for comprehensive and convenient visits. The funding will be used to expand their service to 15 markets over the next 12 months.

"Heal has a world-class team introducing a new level of innovation to a field where patients and physicians desperately want change," said Gregory Milken, Managing Director of March Capital Partners in a statement. "We look forward improving to the lives of both with this truly one-of-a-kind service."

In the 1960s, 40% of all doctor-patient meeting were housecalls. By 1980 that number sank to 0.8%. Heal’s founder, Dr. Renee Dua believes the convenience and thoroughness of house calls can promote a resurgence.

"I created Heal to make life easier for busy parents and adults to get world-class primary care in the comfort, convenience and privacy of their home," Dr. Dua said in a statement. "Our vision is to transform primary care into a one-stop Primary Health Solution, where patients can call on Heal at a moment's notice not only for everything a traditional doctor's visit can provide, but also for cutting-edge services and tools that put patients in control of their health like never before."
